What is Card format?

The Card format is how the card information being arranges when it written inside the card. When the reader reads the information from the card, it will pass the information along to the controller. In this case, the controller must “know” how the information being arranged when the data being received from the reader. Is the “data” contains only Card ID; or, if it contains Facility Code … etc? In other words, if two people try to communicate through emails, both shall agree to use English as the standard format. Otherwise, both of them do not understand with each other. There are different types of card format available in the market; just like, there are different languages. The standard Card format in Access Control is 26 bit format; just like the standard language in the World is English … same idea.
