What is Access Control System?

Access Control System basically consists of two parts. One is the front end (the reader and cards); the other part is the back end (the Software & Controllers). In most of the case, both parts are linked with a communication wire and “talk” through Wiegand. The front end is how to get the Cardholder ID and pass it back to the back end. Once the Cardholder ID being received, the back end shall manipulate the ID to give access or other different “things”.

What is Reader?

The reader is a device to “read” the data (Cardholder ID) out of the card and transfer back to the controller so that the Access Control System “knows” the personal identity and base on the System setup to provide Access Granted (Open the door) or Access Denied (Not open the door); plus, record the event. In other words, the responsibility of the reader is how to “read” the data out of the access card.
